Yes. You have the right to choose your prosthetic provider. If you're having problems with your current prosthesis, want to explore different technology, or simply feel another approach may be a better fit, we're happy to meet with you. You do not have to wait until you need an entirely new prosthesis to contact us.

We provide both upper and lower limb prosthetics, including partial hand, below-elbow, above-elbow, partial foot, below-knee, and above-knee prostheses. Depending on your needs, we work with myo-electric and body-powered upper limb systems, silicone and passive prostheses, activity-specific devices, advanced suspension systems, prosthetic feet, and microprocessor-controlled technology.

Upper limb prosthetics are an important part of our practice. We work with patients with partial hand, below-elbow, above-elbow, and higher-level limb differences and amputations. Options may include myoelectric, body-powered, passive, custom silicone, and activity-specific prostheses. We see upper limb patients from across Wyoming, South Dakota, and the surrounding region.

Your first appointment is important. We'll discuss your medical history, previous prosthetic experience, daily activities, work, hobbies, challenges, and goals. Your practitioner will evaluate your residual limb and talk through the prosthetic options that may be appropriate for you. It's also a great time to ask questions and learn what to expect from the process.

Yes. We welcome pre-amputation consultations. Meeting with a prosthetist before surgery can give you a better understanding of the prosthetic process, expected timelines, rehabilitation, prosthetic options, and life after amputation. It also gives you an opportunity to ask questions before making the transition.

The timeline varies from patient to patient. Healing, insurance authorization, your individual needs, and the type of prosthesis being made can all affect the process. Our goal is to create a comfortable, functional prosthesis that is right for you. A general timeline to expect is 4-6 weeks with at least 4 appointments at a minimum: Evaluation, Casting, Check Socket fitting, Delivery. After delivery, generally follow up appointments are set at regular intervals as you adjust to your new socket, i.e. 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months.

Our clinic is known for a socket technology called Direct Socket. Your socket molded directly onto your limb. It is made in 4 hours in office versus the standard timeline of fittings, adjustments and test sockets that generally take 4-6 weeks. A thing to note is that not all amputee’s are a candidate for direct socket. Our practitioners evaluate each patient to see if the shape and condition of their limb qualifies as a good candidate.

Our Gillette clinic provides custom and off-the-shelf orthotic care, including AFOs, KAFOs, knee braces, spinal braces, upper extremity braces, pediatric orthotics, neurologic bracing, post-operative bracing, and custom foot orthotics. Your practitioner will evaluate your condition and recommend a device based on your needs and goals.

Yes. Pivot works with both pediatric and adult prosthetic patients. Children have unique prosthetic needs because they're constantly growing, developing new skills, and discovering new activities. We work closely with families to create prosthetic solutions that support each child's current needs while planning for growth and change.
